Where do you start?
Don’t make the same mistake that so many new mums do.
You undoubtedly desire beautiful photographs of your newborn, but often that’s where the planning stops. As a result, many professional photos end up trapped on USB drives, never to be seen again.
With every client we start with the end in mind. Asking “how are you going to use your photos?”. Knowing where you are going to hang your baby’s portraits will help you pick the right photographer for you. There is nothing worse than getting stunning images that never end up on your wall because they were not designed with your home in mind.
Most Mums will agree that you will love every photo taken of your baby, but is every image going to be fit for purpose? Will it look stunning on your walls?
Start with the end in mind.
Packages and Prices
When working with our senior photographer, there are typically two fees you need to plan for:
1: Booking Fee: £149. This fee is a booking fee and covers your time in the studio. It is due at the time of booking, typically around your 25-week mark, and is non-refundable as it reserves our staff’s availability for you.
Every newborn session booked before Mum is 25wks will receive a free maternity session. Photos will be included in your final package that you will purchase at your viewing appointment two weeks after your newborn photo session.
2: Package Price: This is where you purchase your images and physical products. It is due two weeks after your newborn session at your viewing appointment.
Start with the end in mind. How are you going to use your portraits?

Welcome to Hello YOU Studios
Hi, Samantha here 🤍
Firstly, congratulations.
I know this stage of life can feel incredibly exciting, emotional and, at times, completely overwhelming, especially as you prepare to welcome your baby into the world.
My aim is to make your experience at Hello YOU Studios feel calm, relaxed and beautifully looked after from the moment you book right through to seeing your finished portraits displayed within your home.
Below you’ll find everything you need to know ahead of your maternity or newborn session.
Booking Around Your Due Date
One of the most common questions I’m asked is:
“How do we book a newborn session if we don’t know when the baby will arrive?”
The answer is very simple.
When booking your session, I reserve space around your due date within the studio diary. This allows flexibility for babies who arrive earlier or later than expected.
Once your baby arrives, simply send me a message and we will confirm your final session date together.
Newborn sessions are typically photographed within the first 2–3 weeks after birth while babies are still naturally sleepy and curled.
The Studio
Your maternity or newborn session will take place at Hello YOU Studios in Wallisdown, Poole, Dorset (BH12 5DL).
The studio has been carefully designed to feel warm, welcoming and comfortable for new parents and growing families, allowing you to fully relax throughout your session.
There is parking available nearby, along with comfortable seating areas, refreshments and everything needed to ensure your experience feels as easy and stress-free as possible.
Session Length
Maternity Sessions
Maternity sessions are usually around 1 hour long, allowing time for outfit changes, relaxed portraits and a calm, unhurried experience.
Newborn Sessions
Newborn sessions are completely baby-led and typically last between 2–4 hours.
This allows plenty of time for:
feeding, cuddles, settling, nappy changes, comfort breaks.
There is never any pressure to rush your baby during the session.
Parent, sibling and family portraits are all welcomed as part of your experience and can be discussed before your session date.
What if my baby is unsettled during their newborn session?
“Every baby is different, and some newborns need a little more time than others to settle. If your baby has experienced feeding difficulties, tongue tie, reflux, jaundice, weight monitoring, or simply hasn’t yet established a regular feeding routine, please don’t worry.
Newborn sessions are completely baby-led, with plenty of time for cuddles, feeding breaks and comfort. My priority is always your baby’s wellbeing and creating beautiful memories, rather than rushing through a list of poses.
If your baby has had a particularly difficult start, is still establishing feeding, or is not yet settled into a routine, it may be beneficial to delay your session slightly. A well-fed, content baby who is comfortable and settled will generally have a much more relaxed experience, allowing us to create the beautiful portraits you see throughout my portfolio.
Please don’t worry if this applies to your little one. Simply let me know before your session and we can discuss the best timing for your baby’s individual needs.”
My baby has a tongue tie, reflux, or jaundice. Can we still have a newborn session?
“Absolutely. Many babies I photograph have experienced feeding challenges, tongue tie, reflux, jaundice, or other common newborn concerns. Every session is tailored to your baby, and I will work at their pace throughout.
If your baby has any medical concerns or circumstances that you feel may affect the session, please let me know beforehand so we can plan together and ensure the experience is as relaxed as possible.”
What To Bring
The studio is fully equipped with wraps, fabrics, styling pieces and carefully selected accessories for your session, so there is very little you need to worry about bringing.
However, I would recommend packing:
Nappies, wipes and any creams your baby, may need.
Extra feeds if bottle feeding
A spare dummy if your baby uses one
A spare outfit for baby
Snacks and drinks for yourselves if desired
Tea, coffee and water are also available at the studio.
What Should We Wear?
The overall style of Hello YOU Studios focuses on timeless, emotional and refined portraits.
Soft, neutral or earthy tones tend to photograph beautifully and help keep the focus on connection and emotion within your portraits.
For parents, I generally recommend avoiding:
large logos,
bold patterns,
bright neon colours
Simple, coordinated clothing always photographs most beautifully.
Guidance can also be provided before your session if you would like help choosing outfits.
A Calm & Comfortable Experience
As a mum myself, I understand how exhausting those early newborn days can feel.
Please don’t worry about arriving perfectly prepared.
The studio environment is intentionally calm, relaxed and supportive, giving you space to simply breathe while I gently guide the session around your baby’s needs.
Many parents arrive feeling nervous or tired and leave saying how relaxed the experience felt.
You are never expected to rush, stress or feel under pressure during your session.
How will I receive my photographs and artwork?
After your viewing appointment and once your order has been paid for in full, your digital images will be delivered via a secure online gallery where you can download them directly to your computer, phone or tablet. No special technical knowledge is required and full instructions are provided.

Your Session
